Information on services available to fellows at The Huntington Library.

Place A Hold Request

While the open stacks are closed, current fellows are welcome to request books and microfilm from the general collections through their My Library account. Holds are processed once a day after 9:00 AM by Reader Services. Please allow two business days to process your requests. If you have not setup your My Library account, visit our Reader Accounts guide for instructions. 

Reader Services will contact you when your items are ready.

To initiate a hold request:

1) Log in to your My Library account.

2) Open the library catalog record for the item you wish to check out.

3) Click on "Request," located above the description.

Visit the My Library to place a holds request.

4) On the next page, confirm the details of the hold request and click on "Request Selected Item."

Submit the Item Selection form via My Library to confirm your hold request.

We cannot guarantee a same-day turnaround for all holds.

Returns

The loan period for all off-campus checkouts is 30 days. Please be sure to return books by the due date. In some cases, we may renew your checkouts. Contact Reader Services for help with returns or renewals. An appointment is required for returns.
