The Huntington Library is an independent research library for the humanities that welcomes researchers from all over the world. The Reader Services Department, located within the library in the Munger Research Center, is happy to assist you with your research.
We look forward to welcoming you to the library!
Please use this checklist to prepare for your library visit:
Holiday closures for the Library include:
Access to the library is free; you do not need to pay admission to the Huntington grounds or become a member to visit. Parking is free. Rideshare commuters will find a designated drop-off zone near the Admissions courtyard, and there is a bicycle rack in the parking lot.
Proceed to the Munger Research Center, which is where the Reader Services office is located. See the map of the grounds for directions to the Munger.
Check-in at the reception desk in the Munger lobby. Security staff will ask you to present an appointment confirmation and a photo ID.
Please store bags and personal items in the locker room outside the Reader Services office after checking in. Feel free to borrow a clear plastic bag (available in the locker room) if you need assistance carrying your belongings.
At the beginning of your first visit to the library, you'll meet with a Reader Services staff member in the Reader Services office to pick up your library card. We'll also ask you to sign a library policy document.
In line with Los Angeles County's Mask Wearing Rules and Recommendations for indoor public spaces, masks are strongly recommended but not required while using the library. Researchers who prefer to wear a mask indoors may continue to do so.
