Collections Up Close: The Digital Collection as a Tool for Close Examination

A companion guide to the virtual presentation.

This resource serves as a companion research guide to the virtual event "Collections Up Close: The Digital Collection as a Tool for Close Examination," which aired on December 10th, 2020. In this presentation, Huntington staff members discussed free online storytelling platforms that can be repurposed for virtual collection show-and-tells, digital exhibits, and utilized as close reading tools for students.

Presenters built a case study example using an object from The Huntington’s collections--a Japanese map illustrating topics of interest to the Japanese visitor or immigrant to Hawaiʻi. View the digital exhibit below, along with instructions for creating your own exhibit.

Further questions about research, accessing materials, or navigating digital resources can be directed to the library.
